Solvent Free Chemically Resistant Coating |
|
|
1. DESCRIPTION
Antel Chemically Resistant Coating is a
two part solvent free system coating.
It has the ability to resist a variety of chemicals and therefore has
a wide variety of applications where other coatings may fail. Because the coating contains no solvents,
it is safe for both the applicator and the environment. The coating has another advantage in that
it can be applied in a single thick coat rather than in several thin coats as
is the case with solvent borne paints and coatings. 2. USES As a surface coating for concrete,
masonry, steel and metal structures to prevent attack from chemicals. 3. PACKAGING A two part product available in 1 litre,
2.5 litres and 5 litres. Non returnable
containers. 4.
STORAGE Flammable. Flash point of not less than
26°C. Store in cool, dry, frost free
conditions in original containers.
Store away from naked flames in a clearly marked area. Keep out of
reach of children. Shelf life in unopened containers is in
excess of 12 months. 5. CURING Pot life at 25°C 45
-50 minutes Thin film set time at 25°C 7
hours Full
cure 2
- 7 days (depending on conditions) 6. COVERAGE 1 litre of mixed coating will cover
3.5-6mē on an area of average porosity and texture. Areas of high porosity will reduce the
coverage rate. 7. CLEANING
EQUIPMENT Brushes and rollers should be cleaned
immediately after use with Antel Cleaning Solvent. |
8. HEALTH
& SAFETY As Antel Chemically Resistant Coating is
solvent free it is much safer to handle than other systems however please
refer to the HEALTH & SAFETY DATA SHEET for full details. Inhalation - Remove to fresh air
immediately. Ingestion - Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical attention immediately Skin/Eyes - Promptly remove any
spillages on the skin with soap and water.
Flush eyes for 15 minutes with water and seek medical advice
immediately. 9. APPLICATION 9.1 Preparation Care must be taken to ensure that all
surfaces to be treated are clean, dry and free from all loose material, rust
etc. Surfaces must also be free of
grease, oil and chemical contaminants before application otherwise the
performance of the product will be affected.
Ideally the area should be blast cleaned or if possible the top 5mm of
concrete should be removed prior to application. Other repairs such as crack injection
should be carried out prior to application. 9.2 Mixing The mixing process is simple but care
and attention to detail will produce a superior coating. Add the entire contents of Pack B
into Pack A stirring continuously.
Stir for a further five minutes to achieve a uniform mix. The coating is now ready for use. (The
coating is solvent free and therefore does not require the addition of any
water or solvents.) 9.3 Application Application can be by brush or roller
depending on the situation, extent of the works and the substrate. It can be applied in a relatively thick
single coat (120 - 240 microns) compared to that of a solvent system (30 - 50
microns). Where applying to new concrete, it is
advisable that a mist coating of Antel Waterbased Epoxy Coating be applied
within 2-7 days. This will act as a
primer/sealer. A minimum of 28 days from
laying should then elapse before the application of
the Chemically Resistant Coating. |
