Epoxy Modified Cementitious Floor Screed
Technical Data Sheet
1. DESCRIPTION
Antel Epoxy Modified Cementitious Floor Screed is a three pack system consisting of Aggregate, Resin and Hardener. When combined it produces a mortar which displays properties such as excellent workability, ease of finishing, good abrasive resistance and excellent adhesion to damp or old concrete.
2. USES
3. PACKAGING
10 kg and 25 kg.
4. COLOUR
Appears as a cement grey colour when cured. No other colours are available at present time but a variety of coatings can be applied with specific colours.
5. USAGE RATE
1 kg at 10 mm depth will cover approximately 0.125 m²
6. STORAGE/SHELF LIFE
Store in cool dry conditions in original containers. Protect from freezing. Keep out of reach of children.
12 months shelf life in sealed container.
7. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
7.1 Preparation:
Surfaces must be free from all foreign matter such as dust, grease and dirt etc. Weak or loose material should be removed. Best results can be achieved by using the appropriate Antel Cleaner. Due to the porosity of substrates it is important to apply a primer first. The use of Antel water based Mortar Primer will give the best results.
7.2 Mixing:
Remove parts B and C from the bucket and mix together. Add half to a power mixer followed by part A. Add the remainder of part B and C after ONE minute and mix until uniform.
7.3 Application:
Apply by the use of a spike roller and trowel onto the previously primed surface.
7.4 Curing:
7.5 Cleaning Tools:
Wash tools immediately after use with fresh clean water.
8. OVER COATING
Further protection can be obtained by using one of a selection of Antel Floor Paints.

9.1 Strength Properties
Dramatic improvements in compressive strength is observed for formulations based on water borne systems. (Epoxy) Flexural strength is higher by about 14 % in comparison to ordinary emulsion systems.
9.2 Linear Shrinkage
Levels of shrinkage are quite small in water based Epoxy Screed, in the region of 0.125% over 56 days. However levels can reach up to 2% and above in epoxy/sand screeds. Shrinkage can lead to internal cracking and perimeter cracking therefore water based Epoxy Modified floor screeds are superior.
9.3 Chemical Resistance.
Samples were immersed in a variety of reagents for one month at 20°C
The list was as follows:
5% Sulphuric Acid
5% Sodium Hydroxide
5% Sodium Hypochlorite
5% Sodium Chloride
5% Non-ionic Surfactant.
Results show that chemical resistance was superior in water based epoxy modified cementitious floor mortar than in acrylic mortars.
In summary the chemical resistance tests show that whilst the epoxy modification gave improvements over traditional polymers, it has to be borne in mind that the polymers are strictly secondary binders in the mortars and complete protection of the cement paste by the polymer is not possible.
