Gripfill - Laybond

1. DESCRIPTION

Gripfill is a high strength, one part adhesive which will bond a wide variety of materials either to themselves or each other and will also act as a gap filling adhesive on uneven surfaces.

Materials which can be bonded using Gripfill include:-

• Wood
• Plywood
• Hardboard
• Chipboard
• Laminated plastic
• Brick
• Rigid insulation material (excluding polystyrene)
• Metal
• Stone
• Breeze block
• Ceramics
• Concrete
• Sand/cement screeds
• Plasterboard
• Cement composite boards

2.  USES

Especially designed as an interior sealant but is suitable for exterior applications, providing the surfaces are clean and dry. 

Bond lines must be protected from water ingress.

Ideal uses for Gripfill include:-

• Stair nosings
• carpet grippers
• Aluminium extrusions
• Timber battens
• Skirting boards
• Internal door jambs
• Plaster coving
• Stair and floorboards
• Automotive and marine
• Slates
• Fitted furniture
• Timber/metal and rigid uP V C window frames
• Internal wall partitions.

350 ml plastic cartridge complete with nozzle.

Packaged 12 per box.

White.

5.  STORAGE                        

• Highly flammable.  Keep away from sources of ignition.

• Store in cool, dry conditions.

• Protect from freezing.

• Keep out of reach of children.

6.  HEALTH & SAFETY

On contact, uncured Gripfill will irritate the eyes.  In case of contact, remove the sealant and flush eyes thoroughly with water. 

If irritation persists seek medical attention.  Avoid skin contact. Ensure adequate ventilation during application.

KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.

Keep away from sources of ignition - NO SMOKING.

In case of fire use dry powder, carbon dioxide, foam or earth.  Never use water.

7.  APPLICATION

7.1 Preparation

Surfaces must be clean, sound, dry and free from dust.  Porous surfaces, such as plasterboard, should first be primed using P V A Primer and allowed to dry thoroughly.
 

7.2 Application

Cut off the nozzle to the desired angle/bead size, and pierce internal seal at base of nozzle with a long nail.  Using an extruder gun, apply a continuous bead approximately 6 mm (¼ inch) diameter to either surface.  Press surfaces firmly together immediately.  If the object is being bonded to a vertical surface temporarily mechanical support may be required.

8.  COVERAGE

Coverage is dependent on the material and smoothness of the surface.

As a guide one cartridge will give approximately 10.25 metres of bead at 6 mm diameter.
