9. APPLICATION
Antel Thixotropic Contact Adhesive is easily applied by serrated scraper or brush and is clean and economical to use resulting in a secure and lasting bond. Bonds can be made by the following techniques.
9.1 Two way dry stick
An even film of adhesive should be applied to both surfaces. When the adhesive becomes touch dry, bring the materials together under firm pressure to ensure good coalescence. It is desirable to use a nip or hand roller to obtain the best results. Ensure parts are positioned correctly as permanent bonds are formed on contact although full strength is obtained after 1 - 2 days.
9.2 Two way semi wet stick
The adhesive is applied to one surface and allowed to dry completely (even overnight). The other surface is then coated and the bond made whilst there is still some solvent in the film. This will allow for some slight adjustment although this method should only be used when one of the substrates is porous.
9.3 Heat reactivation.
Both surface are coated and allowed to dry completely. They are then placed under an infra red lamp and heat reactivated until the temperature of the film reaches 70°C. The films should then be joined under firm, even pressure.
Do not use on unbacked PVC without testing for plasticiser migration.
