Dampseal
Technical Data Sheet
1.
DESCRIPTION
Antel
Dampseal is a low viscosity, single pack, moisture curing
Polyisocyanate prepolymer which is
Amber/Clear in colour.
2.
USES
Dampseal
is used to seal walls and floors against rising damp.
As a binder for friable concrete and as a waterproof
membrane before floor screed application.
3.
PACKAGING
1
litre, 2.5 litre and 5 litre non returnable containers.
4.
COVERAGE
The
coverage rate is dependent on the porosity of the masonry and to a
great extent on the surface profile.
Coverage
on masonry of average porosity is in the range of 25 - 30 mē per
5 litres.
5.
STORAGE
FLAMMABLE
LIQUID.
Store
in cool, dry conditions in original containers.
Protect from freezing.
Keep out of reach of children.
The
store should be clearly marked.
6.
HEALTH & SAFETY
6.1
Use in well ventilated areas.
Avoid contact with eyes and skin.
Wear suitable protective clothing. Eye protection is
strongly advisable.
6.2
If the material comes into contact with the eyes, irrigate
immediately with copious amounts of water and medical attention
should be obtained.
6.3
Wash any spillages with cleaning solvent and wash the cleaned area
with soap and water. The
material may cause skin irritation.
Avoid inhaling fumes.
If affected remove to fresh air.
DO
NOT SMOKE - AVOID NAKED FLAMES - HARMFUL IF TAKEN INTERNALLY.
7.
SURFACE PREPARATION
IMPORTANT.
All
surfaces must be clean and free from all forms of contamination.
Floors should be swept, vacuumed or scraped clean to remove
all traces of dust, laitance or plaster.
The final bond of Dampseal will only be as good as any
coating left on the floor. It
is most important that areas are well prepared.
The areas to which Dampseal is to be applied will be better
dealt with when they are as dry as possible.
Wet areas will restrict the degree of penetration and may
lead to delamination of the Dampseal.
8.
APPLICATION
Pour
the Dampseal into a suitable container and use at once.
Mixing is not required.
Do not return any unused Dampseal to the original container
as this may cause the entire contents to gel.
Dampseal
may be applied by brush or roller.
Care must be taken when using a roller so that air is not
entrained in the liquid. Avoid
overworking the Dampseal so that air bubbles do not form in the
finishing coat. Three
coats are normally required for full protection but it may be
necessary to use a further coat on very porous surfaces.
Second, third and fourth coats must be applied as soon as
the previous coat is touch dry.
No
longer than four hours must elapse between coats.
9.
CLEANING EQUIPMENT.
Tools
and equipment should be cleaned a soon as the work is completed
and it is advisable to clean tools at each interval of work.
Cleaning is best carried out using Antel Glaze Coat
Cleaning Solvent. The
cleaning must be thorough and it is not acceptable to simply stand
tools in the cleaning solvent.
