Water Repellent (P.O.A.S.)

1.  DESCRIPTION

Antel Water Repellent is an effective waterproofing liquid based on a solution of polyoxo aluminium stearate.  In order to be effective the solution must be applied liberally to a dry surface.

2.   USES

Antel Water Repellent (P.O.A.S.) is for use on external vertical surfaces and can be applied to all types of masonry including brick, mortar, concrete, natural stone, asbestos cement, limestone and gypsum plaster.  It is completely transparent when dry and is impossible to detect unless comparison is made with non treated areas during wet weather.

Water Repellent (P.O.A.S.) is not effective in open textured surfaces such as breeze blocks.

3.   PACKAGING  

Available in 5 litre, 25 litre and 200 litre containers.

4. COVERAGE

Coverage rate depends entirely on the porosity of the surface and varies between 2 and 4.5 m5 per litre.  On surfaces with a very high porosity a second coat should be applied as soon as the first coat has been absorbed.

Life expectance is in the order of 10 years.

5.   HEALTH & SAFETY   

Flammable with a flash point not below 40°C.

Eye protection should be worn as the solution is alkaline and will cause severe irritation.   This may also prove irritable to certain skin types, and will cause irritation if inhaled or ingested.  If in contact with eyes, flush with cold water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical attention.

Handling:  Avoid contact with the eyes and skin.  Use of  PVC gloves, goggles and protective clothing is recommended.

Storage:    Store in cool dry conditions in original containers. Protect from freezing. Keep out of reach of children.

6.   INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

6.1 PREPARATION OF SUBSTRATE.

The surface must be dry.  The surface should be brushed down to remove atmospheric dirt, efflorescence and any foreign matter.

The material will only be absorbed into a porous surface. If any material is not absorbed, white staining will result.  If in doubt seek the advice of our Technical Department.

6.2 APPLICATION.

The solution should be used as supplied and never diluted in any way.

Application is normally carried out using pneumatic spray apparatus but small areas can be adequately treated using a large paint brush.

6.3 CLEANING TOOLS.

Spray equipment or brushed should be cleaned with White Spirit as soon as possible after use.

Antel Water Repellent (P.O.A.S.) conforms to the performance requirements of BS 6477 : 1984 (Water Repellents for Masonry) for Substrate Groups 1 & 2.
